Important Ways to Improve Your Study Habits in English!

Here are lists of ways on how you can improve your study in English: 


  1. Do not be afraid to make mistakes and be confident enough to correct them. 
  2. Surround yourself with English by putting yourself in an all English speaking environment where you can learn your way to improve your speaking skills.
  3. Practice makes perfect. Learn to speak the language in everything you say or do, and learn to practice every word that you encounter in between.
  4. Have someone inspire you to improve your English. You can tell your family and close friends about it so they can help you with your journey.
  5. Always remember and use the 4 core skills in English: READING , WRITING, SPEAKING, and LISTENING. They all need to be worked on for you to improve.
  6. Keep a list of the words that are new to you or those words that you don't really understand. You can review them from time to time in order for you to be familiar with those difficult words. You will find words easier to remember if you try to remember an example sentence using that word rather the word on its own.
  7. Give yourself a long term goal, at the same time, give attention to short term goals also and you have to focus on working towards achieving that goal.
  8. Learn to love your study. You’ll learn more when you put yourself into it.
  9. Try to explore thing on how you can learn easily. Might it be by memorizing, reading, speaking, summarizing or other methods that you find interesting. 
  10. If you don't understand the words that you see or read, you can ask someone who knows, it can be your Teacher or anyone whom you know can tell you the exact meaning of the words.
  11. Review all your learning. Throughout the entire day, you encounter a lot of different new words. All you have to do to remember those is to review every time.
  12. Read a lot! Books can really be of help if you want to improve you English skills. A lot of vocabularies can be found in mostly of books. You can start reading children's books if you are a beginner of learning English, because it has basic English words in order for you to understand quickly. And then, if you feel you get better, you can proceed with other books.
  13. Use English whenever and wherever you can!
  14. Keep an English diary or journal. Start by writing a few sentences a day and then get into the habit of writing more.
  15. Enjoy learning! We learn more when we are having fun!
  16. Use resources which match your level. Don’t use texts/listening exercises which are too difficult or too easy. Use materials which challenge you but don’t frustrate you.
  17. You need to have an understanding of the English grammar. There are many lessons about grammar that you can find. Try to see those lessons one by one and understand. In that way, you can have basic understanding of what you are learning.
  18. Once you have a basic level of English explore the different ways you can say the same thing. This makes your English more interesting to the listener and it shouldn’t be too difficult for you because you already know the basics. For example, how many ways can we say, ‘Goodbye' in English?
  19. Find a comfortable, peaceful place for quiet study. You need somewhere where you can focus 100%.
  20. Focus on your study! That matters most.
